Turning the page

After nearly a year in the city, there are a number of conclusions I've come to. I learned to treat expectations not as expectations, but as goals. I've learned that the grass always seems greener on the other side. And I've learned that sometimes to take the next step forward, you have to take one back.

I came to New York with one single expectation in mind. What I failed to account for was the life experiences that are meant to happen before the end result. While I felt behind in my goals, I've come to realize that I am actually, very much ahead of myself.

Instead of being sad about my decision to leave New York for the next year, I'm even more confident that I'll be returning here with much sturdier feet anchoring me down. It's exciting to be able to wonder where you'll be a year from now. A year ago I would've had a very concrete answer - but after living one of the best years of my life, I can comfortably and honestly say that I'm looking forward to letting it all pan out for itself.
